Lately? It's been studying and working, sometimes more work than study. I [heart] my job. Almost as much as I [hearted] my summer job. I found that missing house, by the way. Last weekend I went to Orangeville for Mandy's high school grad - way to go, Mandy! -, went to the dentist, and saw Jo and Chris for the first time in a few weeks.

I've been taking a lot of buses lately, too. I take the bus from school to work several times a week, last Friday I took it to Ancaster to go shopping (and on the way home I saw three deer in someone's yard!), and yesterday I took six buses to go to Mohawk to see an old friend I hadn't seen in over 5 years. The bus was late, and we only got 10 minutes to talk, but it was a start. Now I know how to get there on public transit. Today I have to go downtown to the AGH to research for an art history essay.

And that pretty much brings any of you still reading this literally up to the minute.....

... unless you're reading this tomorrow, in which case it'll already be old.

Oh well.

If you come by the Ancaster library tonight in your Halloween costume, you might get something from the lady in the little room near the entrance where you chuck your books in the bin! (That noise always makes me jump, by the way. Great cure for hiccups).

Monday, March 19, 2007

"Get a pulse!"

Do I have a pulse yet? I'm here to tell you that they are absolutely - almost - true! Almost, because we'll actually be there very early tomorrow morning. Very early. I tried to convince Jo that we should go to Target, but they probably won't be open quite that early. Drat. And I don't think we'll be there all that long: we just have to drop the DR-trippers off at the airport and then get back home, since Jo has to work tomorrow and I have school. But still, it's my first trip to the States in, what, 7 years? I'm psumped!

Monday, March 05, 2007

Ay-nother good weekend, come and gone! Let's see - Friday night Mom and Dad went out with Jo and Chris and Chris' parents to a restaurant in Milton (Milton!); they're trying to find a good place for the family reception after the wedding. Jon went out, too, so that meant that Ben, Andrew and I were left to fend for ourselves. I think we did pretty well, especially with all the extra food MoM bought for the 28th that we didn't end up eating then. So we just sat around, watched TV, filled ourselves up on chicken strips and milkshake, that kinda stuff. Ogh. Saturday was a day off for me, so I slept in (way too long), then did some grocery shopping, me-shopping (I got a great pair of jeans that fits perfectly!), Mom and I went fabric shopping later and had a great time at the self-checkout, then after supper - and the Leafs game - we watched The Prestige.

~The Prestige ~

I really liked The Prestige: it had good actors, and the plot was something you had to pay very close attention to. It was clever, and interesting, and I have to admit that I didn't see the solution to Borden's trick until he revealed it. Angiers' method became clear fairly quickly once he got his equipment, but somehow I never expected <STRIKE>.........</STRIKE>. Thinking about it now, after seeing the ending, so many little things fall into place that I just saw as part of the narrative. But I don't think I'll watch it again. It's a bit like a magic trick: once you know the secret, it's not a trick anymore. The real thrill of the movie is in the suspense, in waiting to find out what's going to happen; knowing what happens takes the thrill out of it. Still, it was a really captivating movie.

Then yesterday night I went to a Creation Ministries speech about Creation vs. Evolution, and arguments we can use to refute the ''evidence'' for evolution. Richard Fangrad is a wonderful speaker - he knows his topic inside-out and he's entertaining. The church was absolutely packed. It went so well that he was done in 1.5 hours, which, given the early start time, left me time to go to College and Careers, too. Then I beat Chris home, which is pretty good considering I never went over 120km/h. heheheheheee.

So that was my weekend, and now it's back to class.

Wednesday, February 21, 2007

What a week! I've been having a lot of fun lately:

Friday night I went to a Jacob Moon concert with some of "my girls". It was a fantastic concert, we met some more people from Waterdown, Jenica loved the looping device, and I won a CD! It was a random draw for his latest CD - with the bonus disc - so we all entered and I got picked. 49 is my new favourite number :D. Saturday night Em had a party, to which I almost didn't go because of late-afternoon flurries, but I went and had a great time and some great coffee from Frank. Good conversation on the way home, too. Yesterday I decided to really start cleaning my room (I've got until September; mmmm, I might be able to get it done by then...); so far I've thrown out two absolutely full garbage bags of junk - why in the world did I keep all that stuff? - plus a cardboard box overflowing with old clothes. I think the shelves in the closet are going to isostatically rebound, or something crazy like that. It just better not make a mess. :P Good things happen when you go through old stuff: I found a silver ring that I thought I'd lost forever about eight years ago. Now I have two rings: gold and silver. Heheheee.

Isn't the weather terrific? Mr. V. said he hadn't seen me walking in a while - well now I've gone out two days in a row, and plan on going tomorrow too. Fantastic weather for reading week. Aaaaannnnd, I've done some reading. Maybe not all for school, but it was such an interesting book! Great pictures, too.

Now I know how the Trojans felt.......

This morning, as I was walking out of the engineering building after class, I happened to look up and what did I see? Well, if you read the title of this post and have any knowledge of classical literature, you've already figured out that I saw a horse. A big horse. A big, wooden horse with a hollow belly (I checked; no Greeks). It kinda made me wonder: since the horse is standing outside JHE, and drawing parallels from classical history, logic states that it must be for the engineers, who was it from? There were no shepherd-spies () around to tell me, and there were no crazy old men with spears foretelling doom, so I guess the origin of the horse will remain a mystery, for now.

I sure wish I had a camera, though.

"Trojans, trust not the horse.
